Resonance is an online exhibition designed and created by the BFA - Digital Media Art senior class of Fall 2022. The show surrounds the idea of reflecting on the past, present, and future. Each artists reflects on topics personal to them including but not limited to: cultural significance, mental health, and racial hate crimes.

• My Work in the Show •

For this exhibition, I utilized New Art City to create a visual experience of the mind of someone with anxiety. My show, a universe unknown, isn’t a normal gallery. I replicated a maze for viewers to walk through and experience the mind of someone with anxiety. My anxiety or panic attacks tend to leave me with the feeling of being lost or confused, and so I wanted to visualize that for others. This also aligns with the idea of going on a journey of self discovery and finding your true self. My gallery consists of digital illustrations and animations drawn by me using Procreate and Adobe After Effects. The pieces consist of original fantasy characters that I’ve designed, most of which are inspired by species that exist in the world of Dungeons and Dragons (DnD). I decided to take some inspiration from DnD as well since that’s where my love of character designing came from. Each illustration and animation reflects what a mental illness can feel like with some more directed towards queer identity. The pieces about LGBTQ+ people were made with colors from specific pride flags that are balanced out with darker tones as well as poses that show signs of struggle.

• My Roles in the Show •

In Resonance, I've drawn and animated a series of artworks that surround the idea of mental health and queer identity. I chose how to set up my world from creating the artworks, to laying out each piece, picking the music, and modeling the walls used for this installation. In addition to creating artwork and designing my personal gallery, I worked alongside my peers. While discussing the gallery set up for the show, I decided to take on the role as one of three Installation Managers. I had a group discussion with the rest of the artists to create and propose the titles of each section so that we can organize the galleries by category. My job was to make sure each artist had their work in the correct sections of each show topic. I assisted in rearranging their works and confirming that the links were working. Lastly, I consistently communicated with the other managers for each group to make sure they had all the information necessary to proceed with their jobs.
